On the positive side, offsetting your carbon emissions contributes to projects such as forest protection, reforestation or renewable energy initiatives. However, it is not universally viewed as a practice without pitfalls and shouldn’t take the place of carbon reduction.  

Carbon calculators vary in what they cover and costs; there are a multitude of offset options in the marketplace. Included here are options linked to some of the conservation charities featured in this resource.  The best option is to contribute more to help safeguard nature – environment causes attract only c.4% of philanthropic funding.
